Melodic Connections is the only music therapy-based, 501c3 non-profit organization in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Our Mission
The mission of Melodic Connections is to provide therapeutic support for individuals with disabilities as they engage in adapted guitar or piano lessons. Lessons building toward performances will foster self confidence and empower students to succeed in other areas of their life!
Who We Are:
Melodic Connections is comprised of board certified music therapists and other like-minded people dedicated to empowering the lives of special needs individuals through musical expression and performance. This mission will be carried out by providing adaptive group guitar and piano lessons to exceptional children, adolescents, and adults.
Our organization is unique in that we strive to deliver our services at low to no cost to the individuals and families who participate. Adaptive guitar and piano lessons are in high demand throughout our community. However, such services are typically provided through private instruction and we understand that fees can be prohibitive for some families.
So, if you and your student are willing to make a 12 week commitment, you will have the option of donating your $25 fee to Melodic Connections or receiving a refund!

What are the age ranges you work with?
Do you have a criteria an individual has to fall in?
The age ranges are 5-adult depending on the program. We work with all students but we specialize in working with the special learners. Email betsey.zenk@yahoo.com for more questions. Thank you for your inquiry!
I am looking for an opportunity for my 16 year old son, who has Down syndrome to have drum lessons, or participate in a music program outside of school. He is in the school band and is headed for High School next year. The Director gives him a lot of attention, tutors him after school etc., but he needs extra help to fully participate in HS. We live in Dayton, Ohio. Could we meet with someone this summer?
I believe you folks were mentioned in this article: http://www.fox19.com/story/22950331/29-bands-rock-out-to-raise-money-for-autism-speaks-charity
My son is 6 years old and has Smith-Magenis Syndrome which is charactorized by developmental delay, behavioral delays and fine and gross motor delays. He loves the guitar and music. He watches how to play things on the guitar on youtube all the time. I would love to get him into lessons to learn to play the guitar. I was always afraid that he would not be able to take traditional classes and then I found out about your program online. We are very interested in getting information on lessons.
I would love to talk with you further. Please email Betsey@MelodicConnections.org or call me at 888-858-3048 and we can discuss the best way for your son to start taking lessons!
Hello, I am a BSN nursing student. I am currently taking a course in Complementary and Alternative therapies. I chose Music Therapy for my report, and I need to come and visit one of your facilities. I will need to talk with someone about the services. I hope that this is not an inconveninece, but I will need to visit the facility sometime this week. If you could get back with me I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
Great to talk with you yesterday Adam. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at the studio.
Do you take donations of musical instruments? I have an electric guitar and amp of my son’s that he barely used and am trying to find a good place to donate it. I bought it a few years ago at Keller Music in Delhi and the manager gave me your website as a possibility.
Thanks,
Karyn Swanger
We would love to give your instruments a good home! We are a 501c3 and are therefore a tax deductible donation as well.
You can email me at Betsey@MelodicConnections.org for more information.
Thank you so much!
Hello,
My name is Jay Bailey and I’m a music teacher in the Cincinnati Public School District. You have had one of my students and I’m looking for more things to do with students with disabilities. One of the parents informed me of your program which has peeked my interest. Would love to get some info and hints/curriculum. You can email me at baileja@cpsboe.k12.oh.us thanks.
Thanks for your email!
We are in the middle of a bunch of stuff, through Oct 14…but send me an email after that and I’ll be happy to talk!
